Teaching Tips For The Holidays

December 10, 2016

This time of year can be extra challenging for teachers, since students tend to lose focus, counting down the days until their holiday break. If you’re looking for ways to keep your class in order until the  weeks leading up to winter vacation, here are some teaching tips that will be sure to help:

Follow Routines: Prevent students from losing focus by sticking to established routines that you set from day one. Keeping a sense of normalcy in the classroom is imperative to keep your students in order.

Enforce Rules: Revisiting classroom rules is a good idea if you notice your students are getting out of hand. Take a few minutes to let them know what is expected of them and stick to those rules. Sometimes a little reinforcement is all that they need to get back on track.

Use Their Energy: While enthusiasm might be viewed as having a negative impact on a students’ ability to get things done, it can actually help! Developing lesson plans and designing activities that encourage students to be enthusiastic and excited is a great way to get them to channel their energy and put it to good use in the classroom.
