Make sure you’re prepared: Sort out your objectives for the conference before the meeting takes place. Think about what exactly you would like to communicate to them and what your ultimate goal of the meeting is.
Be solution oriented: Whatever support you are looking for from the parent, make sure to provide a possible solution to any concern you might have. Always convey a growth mindset and be prepared to offer specific actionable solutions.
Show that you care: For parents, conferences can be just as intimidating as for a new teacher. It’s important to express your caring and compassion for their child, helping them to understand that you are going to do your best to make sure the child succeeds in the classroom.
