Thanksgiving Crafts for the Classroom

Are you looking for ways to incorporate Thanksgiving into your lesson plans and daily activities for the next week or so? At Nickerson Corporation, we’ve got you covered! To help you celebrate the holiday with your students, we’ve outlined three Thanksgiving crafts that you can do in your classroom below:

Hand traced turkeys – with a twist!
Start by having students trace their hands on a clean sheet of paper. After, walk them through how to add legs and a beak so that the body of the turkey is completely outlined. Once they have a feel for what the turkey should look like, provide them with additional art supplies such as feathers and crayons so that they can decorate it in anyway they would like before cutting it out. But don’t stop there! Once they’re done, ask students to write one thing that they’re thankful for inside of their turkey, then set aside some time for them to share what they’ve written with the class!

Thanksgiving true or false trivia
For this activity, split students into groups and provide them with a list of different facts and statements pertaining to Thanksgiving. Then, set aside a designated amount of time for teams to work together and decide whether the statements are true or false. Once time is up, go over the correct answers, and see if students can figure out the truth behind those statements that are false!

Make your own Mayflower
Depending on the age of your students, this activity can be done using a variety of materials. If, for instance, you have older students, see how well they can build their own Mayflower using molding clay! Or, if you have younger students, simply provide them with a blank outline of the ship and have them cut and color it as they’d like.
