Summer Reading Ideas For Students

June 26, 2014

early-childhood-04Although summer means students are no longer contained to the classroom and have some time to soak up the sun, it doesn’t mean that they should stop learning. As students prepare to move to the next grade, future teachers will often request that students complete a summer reading assignment which they can discuss at the start of the new school year. While some teachers allow students to select a book of their choice, others like to provide students with a comprehensive reading list outlining all of the options they may choose from. Since your future students will not all have the same interests, it’s important to create a list that includes a variety of genres, topics, conflicts and more in order to satisfy every students’ preferences. With so many great books out there, how can you choose? Thanks to the Association for Library Service to Children, we’ve compiled a list of some of the top books for 2014 that you can recommend for your students:

Bad Kitty – Nick Bruel
